Tony Roma’s Continues Growth in Malaysia with Opening of Eighth Restaurant
Newest location in Johor Bahru is the first outside of Kuala Lumpur
ORLANDO, Fla. – November 14, 2014 – Tony Roma’s announced today that it opened its newest Malaysian location in Johor Bahru. The restaurant is the iconic American brand’s newest addition in Asia, and represents what Tony Roma’s has found as a thriving market for full-service restaurants in the region.
“We are proud to add the new Johor Bahru restaurant to our Malaysian family,” remarked Ken Myres, president of Romacorp, Inc., the parent company of Tony Roma’s. “With the success of our restaurants in Kuala Lumpur, it was important to expand to new markets in Malaysia, providing fans across the country with all that Tony Roma’s has to offer, from signature food and beverages, to our award winning lamb ribs.”
The 3,806 sq. ft. Johor Bahru restaurant is located in the city’s central business district near the Causeway to Singapore, which links the city to the town of Woodlands in Singapore. Johor Bahru is the southernmost city on the Eurasian mainland and, with the openings of two major amusement parks in 2012, is poised to become a major tourist destination.

An additional Malaysian located in IOI City Mall, a new lifestyle and entertainment complex located in Putrajaya, is expected to open in late November. Tony Roma’s currently has over 150 restaurants in more than 30 countries around the world.
